ZipcarZipcar Inc has just announced that its car sharing app for Android, Zipcar, is now officially out of beta. The app which has been around on the iPhone for some time now is now version 1.0 on Android. While it’s out of beta, there haven’t been many changes, so I guess the beta version must have been functional and stable enough.

In case you were wondering what Zipcar is all about, it’s a car sharing service that allows people to locate cars nearby them that are available for rental. If you need to get around the city and a cab won’t do for the night, you could always head to a car rental shop (which could be far from where you’re staying), or you could launch Zipcar and search for cars for rental in your vicinity.

In addition to reserving your car, the app will also let you unlock, lock, and locate the car that you rent. While car rental isn’t free, the app and service is – head over to the Android Market to download the app for your phone now or find out more at the Zipcar website.
