iPhone owners must have been gloating over their Android rivals that they are able to locate their lost iPhone via the Find My iPhone app, but today is the day when Android owners are able to hit back thanks to TekTrak with their new service which is capable of locating missing Android-powered smartphones, while ensuring your sensitive data inside remains safe from prying eyes and itchy fingers.

With many of us so dependent on our phones these days, they tend to hold a lot of personal and potentially sensitive information. Losing your smartphone might get you into trouble, and TekTrak is here to help with their app that functions as a service to locate lost phones and protect data.

You will need to register your phone on the TekTrak website after downloading it from the Android Market, where said service can be accessed from any web or mobile browser. When you misplace your handset, just log into the TekTrak web site and view the phone’s exact location on a street map. You can then lock the phone and perform a data wipe if necessary. Should the phone be turned off or has no more juice left, TekTrak is capable of pinpointing its last known location.

There will be free and premium versions, with the latter costing you $4.99 annually.
