What kind of songs do you have in your music library? Are you more of a top 40 type of listener, or is your taste more niche? Well if there’s a particular genre you favor, there’s now an Android app available that will keep an eye out for you for concert listings based on your music preference. Unless you’re the type that is constantly on the lookout for gigs and events, or check band websites religiously, Gigbeat looks like it will be willing to do the work for you.

Basically what Gigbeat does is it scans the music library on your Android handset, Songkick and your Last.fm to find out the type of music you enjoy. It then searches for various gigs or events that would be in the genre of the music you typically listen to. Should a new event or gig come up that’s within your area of interest, Gigbeat will also be able to notify you so that you can head out and purchase those tickets.

The good news is that the app is free, so if you’re an avid concert goer or someone who doesn’t have time to monitor concert listings 24/7, head on down to the Android Market to download your copy of Gigbeat today. No word if there are plans to bring this app over to other platforms yet.
