LG Optimus LTE
With the launch of the Optimus LTE in Korea last week, the Korean company introduced the world’s first True HD IPS display. Now for those of you who are wondering what’s so special about the True HD IPS display, well LG has issued a press release touting its benefits. While I haven’t seen the screen for myself to give my own opinion of it, the True HD IPS display is said to offer advanced resolution, brightness and clarity, and show colors in their most natural tones (as they were meant to be seen).

According to Intertek, an international product testing and certification agency, IPS displays perform better than AMOLED in areas of color accuracy, brightness, battery efficiency and performance – valid points, but in the end it really depends on a user’s preferences and usage patterns. The 4.5″ True HD IPS has a 1280 x 720 HD resolution which means it has a pixel density of 329 PPI – higher than the iPhone’s 326 PPI (that’s going to impress a lot of people). Sharper and crisper text, true natural colors and automatic color adjustments applied by LG’s Mobile HD Graphic Engine make the True HD IPS display a feature to be reckoned with.

No word on whether the Optimus LTE will be making its way to our shores, or if LG is releasing any other phones with the display, but we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled.
