For those who recently picked up a Ford – or should I say, drove one home, where that particular vehicle came with a SYNC software package, then you will be pleased to know that from early 2012 onwards, you too will be able to receive a software upgrade for your vehicle – and for free to boot, without having to purchase a totally new vehicle. As for folks who will be purchasing the 2013 models from Ford, you too, will be on the receiving end of the latest version of the MyFord Touch software. Hmmm, it seems that a car company is starting to function in the same manner as that of a tech company.

As with any new software version, the MyFord Touch is said to be faster, sporting jazzed up graphics and larger as well as more-readable type fonts to cater for a wider range of clientele. Ah, since a touchscreen display is used, it makes perfect sense to have superior touch-responsiveness as well. some of the new features include support for tablets and the ability to tune in to Audible.com audiobooks, while finding your way around using navigation maps has been improved, aided by enhanced voice recognition interaction.

I sure as heck hope that this new software update has been tested in all ways through to Sunday so that it will not crash or act weirdly – after all, being behind a wheel and having bugs in your software is not the ideal situation to be in.
