Rumors surrounding Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox console have been popping up all over the place, so here’s one more you might want to add to your list. According to this particular rumor, we won’t be getting a new Xbox console, instead we will be getting two! Yes, you read that right! Apparently Microsoft has plans for two Xbox consoles, one for the casual gamer and one for the more hardcore gamer.

The difference between these two machines is that one will be a “pared down machine” that will be cheap and affordable since it is being aimed at the casual gamer. The second machine will be a more “fully-featured machine” and will be pretty much be your typical Xbox affair with newer technology and backwards compatibility. The rumor is also suggesting that the Kinect will be bundled with both editions as well.

To be honest we’re not sure how Microsoft will differentiate the games from the machines. Based on this rumor we can only assume the cheaper machine will be less powerful, but what about the casual gamer who wants or who may want to play regular Xbox games? One of the reasons people turn to consoles is because of its fixed hardware and its ability to play games for the next 5-6 years without worrying about their console not being powerful enough.

This rumor would essentially turn Microsoft’s Xbox console(s) into a casual PC versus gaming PC debate. What do you guys make of this? Outright rumor or is there some shred of truth here? For now we’ll be taking this one with a huge grain of salt.
