Sony TVFrom providing its own television hardware and creating its own smart TV platform, it looks like Sony wants to do everything when it comes to TV. According to the latest reports from the Wall Street Journal, Sony is considering launching its own alternative to cable-TV. The service will make use of the internet to deliver content to its PlayStation 3 and other TV-connected devices.

Sony has also reportedly pitched the idea to NBCUniversal, Discovery Communications and News Corp though it wasn’t mentioned what they thought of it. By delivering their own content, Sony could save its television operating which has been draining the company’s finances due to the company losing money on every TV it sells.

Sony has yet to confirm or deny any rumors, so we’ll just have to wait it out to see where this leads. What do you think of a Sony content delivery channel? Would the idea appeal to you, or do you think it is better left in the hands of other companies?
