Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note to receive Ice Cream Sandwich by Q1 2012

Good news for Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note owners – the update to Ice Cream Sandwich should be available pretty soon. According to a post on Samsung Norway’s Facebook page, the update should be released by the end of the first quarter of 2012. With today being the last day of January, that leaves two more months until it is released. While it wasn’t mentioned in the post, the update should be for international devices. No word on when the US versions of the Galaxy S2 or Galaxy Note updates will arrive but let’s hope it won’t be too long either (then again we’re still waiting for the Galaxy Note to be sold here).

Android: Android is the mobile operating system from Google. The software was originally built by a company called Android Inc, that was purchased by Google in 2005. From its modest debuts, Android has become a powerhouse that powers not only smartphones and tablet, but a host of other less high-profile devices and gadgets. Galaxy Note: The Samsung Galaxy Note was introduced by Samsung during IFA 2011 in Berlin. It was the first smartphone to break the 5" display size barrier with an 5.3" 720p Super-AMOLED display. The international (non-US) version was powered by a Samsung Samsung Exynos 4210, while the U.S version used a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8255T. In terms of storage, the Galaxy Note came with 16GB or 32GB of internal flash memory, which could be supplemented with a microSD card. The battery has a capacity of 2500mAh, which was nice at the time, but has been surpassed since by the Galaxy Note 2, which has a 3100mAh battery.
