Skype DonorsChooseSkype has previously made clear its intentions in the classroom with its Skype in the Classroom dedicated Skype network, and now the company has announced a new program to bring tech into classrooms. Partnering with DonorsChoose.org, Skype will be donating $250,000 to fund classrooms in the US requesting materials that enable video-calling projects. The money will be used to purchase laptops, netbooks, and webcams to help classrooms connect with other classrooms, experts and teachers through video calling – talk about taking in-class learning to a whole new level!

To take advantage of the program, all teachers need to do is register for Skype in the classroom to receive a $25 DonorsChoose.org Gift Card which they can use to use in any classroom project they choose at DonorsChoose.org or one they create themselves. If the public would like to support the program, they can log on to DonorsChoose.org and check out the “Double Your Impact” projects that have the Skype logo and make a donation. For every donation made, Skype will match it with 50% as well. Find out more at Skype’s or the DonorsChoose website.
