Remember the Truman Show, where Jim Carrey’s character lived in an artificial environment for most of his young life? Well, Rob Burke has an idea that is so crazy, it might actually work. Calling it the Life Online project, Rob intends to let the world view nearly every step and move he makes for a full year, by attaching a camera to him whenever he is mobile. Apart from that, his apartment will have a bunch of strategically placed cameras that show off 4 separate angles/locations. The documentary, as he calls it, will last for a year, and all the streaming required will obviously add up, which is why he has appealed for funds over at Kickstarter. It is rather sad that out of the $300,000 goal that he needs to achieve, only one person dropped $1, and with 18 days left to go, somehow I find it hard to suppress the pessimistic side of me. What do you think – will Line Online actually take off and be a cultural phenomenon, or will it end up under the “Failed Ideas” catalog?
