While Apple’s Siri should have no problems recognizing the speech and voices of users from a select group of countries for now, if you wanted a voice translator you’d be out of luck. That’s where a new app dubbed iTranslate Voice comes in. If the name did not already give it away, iTranslate Voice is an app for iOS devices that allows the user to translate a spoken phrase from one language of their choice into another language of their choice. While we haven’t actually tried it out ourselves, there are reports that have suggested that its voice recognition is pretty strong and relatively spot-on.
At the moment the languages supported includes English (U.S.), English (U.K.), English (Australia), Spanish (Spain), Spanish (United States), Spanish (Mexico), French (France), French (Canada), German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin (China), Mandarin (Taiwan), Cantonese, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Portuguese (Portugal), Portuguese (Brazil), Polish, and Russian. Languages that come with voices are: Arabic, Bahasa (Indonesia), Basque, Catalan, Greek, Hindi, Slovak, Thai, and Turkish.
