One of the unique features of the Nintendo Wii U is its GamePad. In case you’re not sure what this is, it basically provides Wii U players with a secondary display. This display can be used to display additional information from the game, or it can even be used to play the game itself when the TV is in use. Given that everyone has pretty much associated the GamePad with the Wii U, it’s hard to imagine the console without it, and according to Nintendo’s president, Satoru Iwata, that nearly happened. He revealed that the company had almost given up on the GamePad with the extra display due to the expected high cost which would have led to a price point that might not sit so well with potential customers. However it is safe to assume that they have managed to overcome this hurdle as according to Nintendo USA’s Reggie Fils-Aime, the Nintendo Wii U’s price will “pleasantly surprise” customers.
