The TV in your living room has definitely evolved over time, moving on from black and white to color, and then making the jump to High Definition. Well, what is the next evolutionary step? LG Electronics is looking at the ability for home viewers to be able to enjoy their favorite games on the LG Cinema 3D Smart TV, and in eye-popping 3D glory, to boot. Previously, a bunch of these 3D-enabled game apps were available only on compatible smartphones and tablets via the Apple App Store and Google Play, not to mention that they were only playable in 2D. LG Electronics decided to ramp up the fun factor by hand picking these titles specially for their 3D playability.

Among the titles selected are Air Penguin, which made it to the top of the list of downloaded game apps in the US, in addition to 18 other countries in 2011, while Frisbee Forever, Burn The City, Downhill Bowling 2 and Diversion from Unity Technology also made the list. According to Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Home Entertainment Company, “We are excited to be able to bring 3D gaming to Smart TVs for the first time so family members can enjoy the immersive fun together. With the arrival of established games as well as original titles developed exclusively for LG CINEMA 3D Smart TV, we are fulfilling our commitment to realizing the potential of Smart TV as a genuine 3D gaming platform. LG CINEMA 3D Smart TV owners will be amazed as they become fully engrossed in the large screen, 3D environments of their favorite games, and at how easy it is to be in control with the Magic Remote.” [Press Release]
