We’re sure that this has happened to everyone at least once, whereby you have picked up your phone on the wrong end and put the microphone to your ear, and the speaker to your mouth. This can result in a pretty embarrassing situation especially if there are many people around you, however it looks like Google has plans to fix that. In a recently awarded patent, it seems that Google has plans for a smartphone whereby both microphone and speaker will be placed at both ends of the device. Depending on the way you answer your phone, the appropriate speaker/microphone will be activated. While it’s not the most ground-breaking patent we’ve seen so far, it sounds like a good idea although we will have to wait and see if Google or any of their manufacturing partners will eventually utilize this patent in their future devices.
