lenovo-k900-releaseWhile Lenovo might be known for their computers, they aren’t exactly a brand that comes to mind when one thinks about smartphones. However the company is looking to change that as they are hoping to bring more of its smartphones to the US market within a year. This was revealed in an interview that Lenovo’s CEO, Yang Yuanqing, had with The Wall Street Journal, where Yang reportedly said that he sees the mobile market as the next frontier for the company.

Before you write Lenovo off, it should be noted that statistics from IDC have revealed that Lenovo is currently the second biggest smartphone maker in China with a market share of 11.4%, taking a backseat only to Samsung who commands a whopping 17.4% market share. Lenovo did admit that their branding was one of the hurdles they had to overcome as Yang said that despite their company being well-known in China, it is not as known in the US which is dominated by companies such as Apple and Samsung with big marketing budgets.
