htc-8x-review--25While HTC might not be as gung-ho about Windows Phone compared to Nokia who have pretty much put all of their eggs into the Windows Phone basket, it does not mean that they have forgotten their Windows Phone customers, and if you’re a HTC 8X user on T-Mobile’s network, you might be pleased to learn that the carrier will be releasing the Windows Phone GDR2 update to HTC 8X owners come 22nd of July. This follows an earlier report whereby there were some HTC 8X owners who reportedly received the update, but according to the folks at WPCentral, T-Mobile has “confirmed” by way of a leaked memo that the update will be rolled out to the masses in a few days’ time.

We guess the earlier rollout might have been something of a soft launch, or maybe T-Mobile was just testing the update and see if there were any bugs or errors they might have to fix before releasing it to the masses. In any case if you’re a HTC 8X owner, keep your eyes peeled on the 22nd of July for the Windows Phone GDR2 update which should include features such as Data Sense, an improved camera, and an overall improved user experience.
