freedompop cell phone

FreedomPop has certainly been making a name for itself over the past few months as they first set to upset ISPs by offering free broadband Internet¬†earlier this year, and just a few months ago, the company announced they would be offering a completely free smartphone service.¬†If you’ve been keeping an eye on FreedomPop’s free smartphone service, your day has finally arrived as the company’s freemium mobile phone service is now up and running.

Similar to FreedomPop’s other offerings, users will be given their first block of data for free, allowing users to pay for addition data if they require it. For its cell phone business, FreedomPop requires its users to purchase a compatible device up front, which subscribers will be given 500MB of data, 500 text messages and 200 anytime voice minutes for free each month. The only device FreedomPop has available for its customers to purchase is the HTC Evo Design 4G, which can be purchased on their website for $99.

If the HTC Evo Design 4G doesn’t make you want to immediately jump on the FreedomPop bandwagon, the company says they’ll be adding more Android handsets soon, although they didn’t say exactly when or what phones they were planning on adding.
