Satya Nadella, Microsoft. 2014-01This just in – Microsoft Corporation has officially announced that Satya Nadella will be their new CEO, where he will also be a member of the Board of Directors effective immediately. Nadella is not a stranger to Microsoft as his previous portfolio included being the Executive Vice President of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise group. Bill Gates chimed, “During this time of transformation, there is no better person to lead Microsoft than Satya Nadella. Satya is a proven leader with hard-core engineering skills, business vision and the ability to bring people together. His vision for how technology will be used and experienced around the world is exactly what Microsoft needs as the company enters its next chapter of expanded product innovation and growth.”

Considering how Nadella has been with Microsoft since 1992, having soaked up more than two decades’ worth of company culture would lead him in good stead to continue bringing the software giant forward in the right direction. Nadella had this to say about his appointment, “Microsoft is one of those rare companies to have truly revolutionized the world through technology, and I couldn’t be more honored to have been chosen to lead the company. The opportunity ahead for Microsoft is vast, but to seize it, we must focus clearly, move faster and continue to transform. A big part of my job is to accelerate our ability to bring innovative products to our customers more quickly.”

Bill Gates still has a role to play in the company he founded, where he will now wear a new hat as the Board as Founder and Technology Advisor, which would translate to devoting additional time to the company while giving Nadella the support required in shaping technology and product direction.
