macprogocaseOne of the downsides to desktop PCs is that for the most part, they’re not very portable. Even if you were to build a more compact desktop PC, it would still be pretty heavy and bulky, not to mention the amount of cables and wires you’d have to bring along with you. This is why some desktop chassis manufacturers have created handles to help facilitate moving the desktop around.

Well the good news is that if you’re a Mac Pro user, you might be pleased to learn that WaterField Designs have recently announced a Mac Pro Go Case, which as you can see in the image above, is essentially a case that you can slide your Mac Pro into and bring around with you on the go, and as easy as slinging it over your shoulder, much like you would with a laptop bag.

It’s an interesting idea because the new Mac Pro from Apple is pretty small and cylindrical, unlike traditional desktop PCs which are more angular. This makes the Mac Pro easy to place inside the Go Case, although we should note that despite the Mac Pro’s small stature, it is still pretty hefty, so that should be worth taking into consideration, especially if you’re planning on making it a portable device.

WaterField Designs claims to have designed the Go Case for travelling gamers, developers, and video editors in mind. While it does make sense, it will also require the user to connect a keyboard, a mouse, and a monitor to it in order for it to be fully functional, so unless your destination has those items ready for you, we reckon it’d be pretty pointless. In any case the Mac Pro Go Case is currently available for pre-order via SFBags where it is priced at $129.
