Apple’s Mac mini isn’t a particularly powerful computer. It’s more than sufficient to get things done, but for those looking for a bit more horsepower, there are alternative Macs like the MacBook Pro or the Mac Pro, but now according to a report from 9to5Mac, Apple could be developing a more powerful model.
According to the publication, they have learnt from their sources that Apple is developing a computer called the Mac Studio. This will apparently be a hybrid computer of sorts where it will sport the size/form factor of a Mac mini, but will be powerful like the Mac Pro. The report claims Apple has two versions that are in development.
One model will feature the M1 Max chipset found in 2021’s MacBook Pro, while the other will feature an Apple Silicon chip that’s even more powerful than what’s currently available. Apparently this Mac Studio computer is being aimed at professional users who might want the form factor and compact nature of the Mac mini, but the power of the Mac Pro.
What’s interesting about this report is that this isn’t the first time we’re hearing about such a computer. Back in 2021, there were rumors Apple could be working on a smaller Mac Pro that would essentially look like a larger version of the Mac mini. Suffice to say that this report should be taken with a grain of salt, but hopefully we’ll learn more about this Mac Studio computer this year.
