The world’s greatest sporting spectacle (although some might disagree with that statement, touting the Olympics to be an even grander event) known as the 2014 FIFA World Cup is about to kick off really, really soon, so we are proud to bring you word that the sporting event itself does have an official smartphone – which happens to be the Sony Xperia Z2 (aka Sirius). Now, don’t confuse this with the Xperia Z2 tablet, this is the smartphone. Considering how Sony happens to be one of the top sponsors for the upcoming World Cup in Brazil, you might want to check out the promotional video which shows just how passionate football (soccer in the US) fans can be when it comes to supporting their national colors on the field.

Sony also intends to make this edition of the World Cup all the more interesting by kicking off (pun not intended) a contest known as the Sony Football Challenge. You will have to make a prediction on the final score of all 64 games in the World Cup, where the top 100 contestants with the most accurate answers will then see their names shown off on a leaderboard posted on the Xperia Lounge app.

The grand prize? A VIP trip to Morocco, a Sony PlayStation 4, a Sony Xperia Z2 tablet, and a Sony Xperia Z2, among others. Isn’t it time you busted out that analytical football brain of yours and got going?
