Twitter today rolled out an update for its Windows Phone application. This major update comes after seven months so Windows Phone users will no doubt appreciate all of the new features included in this release. Some might have thought that Twitter had abandoned development of its WP app since the last update came back in November 2013 but that doesn’t appear to be the case now. The update also gives hope that in the future Twitter may continue to update this app and add more features to it.

Most of the features that make their way to Windows Phone in this app have already been available for quite some time on Twitter’s iOS and Android devices, so those users might really not be impressed by all this.

The official Twitter for Windows Phone application now allows users to upload multiple photos in a single tweet, they can also tag friends in an uploaded photo to start a conversation. The home timeline will now show a preview of tweets that contain photos, Vines or other select content.

Users will now be able to reply, favorite, follow or retweet someone from a tweet in their home timeline, the ability to send photos through direct messages has also been added in this update.

Twitter has timed the release of this app well as in the coming weeks Microsoft is expected to broadly roll out its Windows Phone 8.1 update. Twitter for Windows Phone update is available for download right now from the Windows Phone Store.
