Samsung-Gear-VR-07Most media players come with a visualization option. For those who have never bothered to check out that particular feature, it’s basically where a screen will show some graphics will pulse, glow, rotate, and move according to the beat of the music. It’s an interesting and fun effect and you can leave it on your computer if you’re not doing anything else.

However have you ever wondered what those visualizations could look like on a bigger scale? Well if you had your eyes on the recently announced Samsung Gear VR, you might be interested to learn that developer Harmonix has recently announced that they will be making a musical software for the headset dubbed the Harmonix Music VR.

Harmonix is the developer behind titles like Rock Band and Dance Central, so safe to say that when it comes to music games or software, they probably have a clue as to what they are doing.

According to the developers, “Harmonix Music VR” transports you to a fully immersive, music-driven dreamscape allowing you to experience your tunes like never before. It uses Harmonix’s proprietary Music Analysis Engine technology to generate a song-specific, high-resolution event sequence that drives the reactive elements in your virtual world.”

It sounds like it could be a potentially trippy experience, but at the same time it could end up being a great way to consume our music. No word on when the software will be released, but the company has estimated that it will be released alongside the Gear VR which has been pegged for a release later this year.
