nvidia-shield-tablet-07According to the earlier rumors, HTC is said to be working on the upcoming Nexus 9 tablet which is said to be powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra chipset as opposed to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon, which has been pretty much the standard these days. In fact a recent sighting at the FCC has revealed a tablet powered by an NVIDIA chipset which could very well be the Nexus 9 for all we know.

That being said, it has all pretty much been speculation, at least until recently when NVIDIA themselves inadvertently confirmed it. As you might have heard, NVIDIA had filed a lawsuit against Samsung and Qualcomm alleging patent infringement and thanks to the eagle-eyed folks at Bright Side of News, they spotted a sentence in the legal documents which basically confirmed the Nexus 9.

According to the document, it reads, “the HTC Nexus 9, expected in the third quarter of 2014, is also expected to use the Tegra K1.” Not only does this sentence confirm the existence of said tablet, but it also confirms NVIDIA and HTC’s involvement in the matter as well. We also has a rough time table which is Q3 2014 which means we can expect an announcement in the next few months.

Given that the document had to make its way through NVIDIA’s legal team before being published means that the information in it should be accurate, or so we hope. Either way hopefully we will hear more from HTC/Google soon, so do check back with us at a later date for the details.
