ps4-hrdware-large18We know that the Sony PlayStation 4 is doing pretty well and last we heard, it had sold more than 7 million units around the world. However given that the PS4 is sold in multiple markets, is there one market that might be doing better than the rest? While we’re not sure if there is, Sony has recently revealed that the PS4 has managed to cross the 1 million mark in the UK.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Sony’s UK boss Fergal Gara revealed that the console had managed to sell 1 million units since going on sale nine months ago in the UK. Not only is this quite an achievement for Sony, but apparently it also makes the PS4 the second fastest-selling console ever.

Interestingly enough the title of fastest-selling console ever actually belongs to Nintendo’s Wii U, although admittedly sales of the Wii U haven’t exactly been that stellar to date. That being said, the 1 million figure also means that the PS4 has managed to beat out the likes of its predecessors like the PS3 which took 46 weeks to hit 1 million units, and the PS2 which took 50 weeks.

Assuming that Sony does not run into any production issues or supply issues regarding the PS4, Gara expects that Sony’s UK figures should get a nice year end boost thanks to the Christmas season which could see Sony sell more consoles.
