microsoft__logoAccording to the reports, Microsoft is expected to put an end to the Nokia and Windows Phone brand. Instead Microsoft is said to be rebranding their phones and placing their own name of Lumia handsets in the future. Is that a good idea? Perhaps since everyone knows the Microsoft brand.

However it seems that not everyone is too thrilled about the upcoming changes. In fact recently a photo of an alleged front panel showed the Microsoft branding on the phone, but Windows Phone fans have since petitioned Microsoft to change their mind. In one of the petitions created by Ingi0m4r, it suggested that Microsoft should just use the Lumia brand on their phones instead.

“The Branding of the Microsoft phones should say Lumia in front not Microsoft. It looks really ugly and the name is too long. Lumia is just right and its a cool name,” reads the petition. Some have suggested that the Microsoft name might sound a bit too “old” and too serious for regular users and that it might be better off used for enterprise devices.

In any case what do you guys think? Should Microsoft brand their Windows Phone handsets as Microsoft devices, or do you agree that the Lumia name would help create a more youthful sounding brand that would have a greater appeal?
