ac unity xbox one bundleIt has not been a good day for earnings announcements for Amazon, but Microsoft has a very different picture painted after announcing that their Q1 fiscal year 2015 financial results also saw a whopping 2.4 million Xbox consoles sold in the same corresponding period. In terms of percentage, Microsoft claims that this would number a 102% growth where unit sales are concerned. Do bear in mind that the Xbox brand happens to be part of the Devices and Consumer division, which also saw a 47% increase where revenue is concerned to hit the $10.96 billion mark.

Apart from that, Microsoft has also reported that they managed to pick up $23.20 billion in earnings for the quarter that ended September 30 this year. In a conference call which saw Microsoft reaching out to investors, it seems that the 2.4 million units of Xbox consoles referred to were consoles sold-in (meaning, having being shipped to retailers), and not being sold to consumers directly, so as to the total number of consoles which ended up in the houses and living rooms of the consumers remain to be seen.

Having said that, it does look as though the Sony PS4 is holding the upper hand when it comes to overall console sales for the current generation among the big three, and Nintendo does seem to be struggling with their Wii U due to the perceived lack of quality titles, not to mention losing out where graphical and processing firepower is concerned.
