ipad-air-2-a8x-chip

If the latest leak about Apple’s upcoming tablet is to be believed then the iPad Air 2 will have a more powerful A8 processor as opposed to the one you may find in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Last year both iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display had more or less exactly the same A7 chip that powered the iPhone 5s. A Taiwanese publication has published a photo of an A8X chip online, presumably meant for the iPad Air 2, and said to be more powerful than the A8 chip.

That’s not all. We can’t forget about the recent leak that hinted at 2GB RAM for the iPad Air 2. These signs point to a significantly powerful tablet from Apple, and the 2GB RAM bit is reiterated by the source that has brought us the A8X chip’s photo.

More power under the hood means that the tablet will be able to support some new features such as the much rumored split-screen multitasking that many expect will be unveiled with the iPad Air 2. It remains to be seen if these tweaks would result in an increase in the price.

Apple has already confirmed that its conducting an event on October 16th and it is more than likely to show off the new tablets at the event. We’ll only know for sure when the official announcement is made but at least I am one of those keeping their fingers crossed for a more powerful iPad Air.
