According to rankings done in the past, the Newark International Airport has been known to be one of the worst airports in the United States, but it looks like things could be changing with high-tech makeover. United Airlines has recently announced that they will be giving its main terminal in Newark a $120 million upgrade.
Basically what will happen is that United Airlines will be investing all that money into equipping it with iPads, which will hopefully make the experience a lot more efficient and familiar. The plan is to have it ready in the near future whereby customers will be able to walk up to any of the iPads and use it to check flight statuses, browse the web, buy food, and so on.
United Airlines will also be adding 10,000 power outlets to those who are waiting for their flights and need a power source to help charge their phones, tablets, or laptops. The upgrade of the airport’s main terminal is expected to take 18 months to complete, so if you’re a frequent flier of United Airlines at Newark, chances are you will only see these changes come 2016.
In an interview with Bloomberg, United Airlines spokeswoman Mary Clark said, “From our perspective what we’re looking for, and what we look for in all of our hubs, is something that’s going to be a benefit for our customers — something that’s going to make the time they spend in the airport more productive, more enjoyable, comfortable.”
