Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine from the X-Men series is iconic in its own right. It is widely believed that the actor has done justice to the character and often there has been talk of who will take his place when he finally decides to hang up his claws. It appears that Jackman has now decided that he will indeed hang up those adamantium claws. He posted a new photo of his hands on Instagram, with claws protruding out of just one, captioned “Wolverine … one last time.”

The Australian star has played Logan a.k.a Wolverine seven times, this includes the cameo that he made in X-Men: First Class. Given that he’s now probably going to move away from this character perhaps Jackman won’t be making an appearance in Deadpool, Gambit or X-Men: Apocalypse as previously speculated.

It can then be assumed that Jackman’s last performance as Logan will come in Wolverine 3. That film will be directed by James Mangold who also did The Wolverine with Jackman in the lead role.

People commenting on the Instagram post are calling on Jackman to reconsider his decision, as all beloved fans do when their stars decide to take a different route, ultimately it comes down to where Jackman wants to take his career. It may simply be that he doesn’t want Wolverine to be the greatest accomplishment of his career.
