occulus-vr-dk2-001So we have seen games like first-person shooters make its way onto virtual reality headsets like the Oculus Rift, but what other games would make sense to be played on the headset? We suppose MMORPGs such as World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, the Final Fantasy MMO and more would make great candidates, and an Oculus exec seems to think so.

In fact according to Jason Rubin, the head of Worldwide Studios at Oculus who spoke to the folks at VentureBeat, it is almost a certainty that one day we can look forward to playing MMOs on virtual reality headsets. Rubin was quoted as saying during the interview, “Beyond any shadow of a doubt [massively multi-user experiences are] coming.”

We have to admit that it sounds like a rather exciting possibility but unfortunately details are unclear at this point, such as whether it would be Facebook who is responsible for crafting the virtual worlds, or if the company is expecting help from other game developers who might be interested in creating a virtual reality environment for their gamers.

It sounds like the stuff you read or see in science fiction novels and movies, but as Rubin puts it, “It’s going to be this weird mix of ‘not like what you think’ and ‘exactly what you think.’ Beyond a shadow of a doubt, a lot of people working on metaverses and persistent worlds.” Is this something you might be interested in?
