Android devices don’t restrict the user’s customization options as much as iOS does but that doesn’t stop some people from wanting to do more with their device, and that’s why they root it. Rooting allows installation of custom firmware and removal of bloatware but the process can also cause some built-in features to stop working. If anyone performs a Galaxy S6 root they’ll find that Samsung Pay will cease to work on their new handset.

Samsung Pay is the company’s new payments service which was unveiled alongside the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in March. The service will be formally launched in the coming months.

For this service Samsung partnered up with the likes of Visa and MasterCard as well as major banking institutions from around the world. Samsung Knox security suite is in charge of keeping everything safe and secure.

However rooting the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge causes Knox to trip and that automatically disables Samsung Pay. In the past few did find ways to root the Galaxy S5 without tripping Knox but no such method has been discovered for the new flagships yet.

It’s very much possible that someone will come up with a solution, but until then, if you’re interested in a Galaxy S6 root do keep in mind that you won’t be able to use Samsung Pay when it finally launches later this year.
