For the past few months it has been rumored that Samsung is working on a new smartwatch. We expected to see it at Mobile World Congress 2015 last month but the company did not talk about a new smartwatch at the event. It was later said that Samsung is working on creating the perfect smartwatch which will be released later this year. New details have emerged today about the upcoming smartwatch from Samsung.

Previously referred to as the Orbis, the new smartwatch is going to have a round design, and will be officially called the Samsung Gear A. This according to Sammobile which has proven to be right on many occasions in the past.

Gear A will be available in two variants, one with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and the other with 3G. The 3G model will reportedly also have the ability to make phone calls.

Model numbers mentioned in the report show that variants for all four major U.S. carriers, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile, are in the pipeline.

It hasn’t been revealed though exactly when Samsung is going to launch the Gear A. The report also doesn’t mention how much both variants will cost so we’ll keep an eye out for this information.

Samsung’s new smartwatch will most certainly be compared against Apple’s first smartwatch, the Apple Watch, which will be released on April 24th.

We’ll have to wait to find out just how the Gear A stacks up against the much awaited smartwatch from Apple.
