Volvo XC90 Lounge ConsoleOver in China, it seems that there is a rise in the wealthy which means that employing a chauffeur to drive you to your office and home, or driving your kids around is becoming more common. However unless you have a limousine, stretching out your legs at the back can be rather tricky, which is where the Volvo XC90 “Excellence” SUV comes in.

The vehicle was designed specifically for the Chinese market where the luxury market is said to be booming and where chauffeurs are becoming more commonplace, more so than in the US or Europe apparently. To cater to these customers, Volvo has decided to do away with the front passenger seat in favor of giving the passenger at the back more legroom, as you can see in the image above.

This allows the passenger to stretch their feet forward and even prop them up on the legrest. There is even a small display above their feet where they can watch videos while being driven to their destination. In fact the entire car has been designed to cater to that particular passenger, as you can see the placement of the cupholders and glasses are within reach of the passenger.

According to  Thomas Ingenlath, Volvo’s senior vice president for design, “People who are on the move and have a hectic lifestyle going from event to event or meeting to meeting need some space, some luxury time, and the opportunity to relax and refresh themselves for the next engagement.”

No word on how much this special edition XC90 SUV “Excellence” will cost, but boy talk about lavish!
