fb instaWhile Facebook owns Instagram, users of either social network use them very differently. For example on Instagram you might be more inclined to follow celebrities, artists, musicians, photographers, and so on, while your Facebook might be more limited to just friends, family, and colleagues.

However it looks like Facebook is trying to merge your worlds together. According to The Daily Dot, they have received a screenshot from their tipster which shows that Facebook is starting to recommend friends based on who you follow on Instagram, assuming that you have linked both your Facebook and Instagram accounts together.

This can be a bit jarring for some users as sometimes there is absolutely no mutual friend between them and the person they follow on Instagram. More worrying for some is how much reach Facebook has with the data they have on you, and to some they are finding this a bit intrusive. Of course you can always ignore the suggestions, or alternatively you could just unlink your Instagram and Facebook accounts if you’re uneasy about this.

Imagine what happens if the random people who follow you on Instagram start to add you as friends on Facebook, or start exploring your profile without your knowledge? Facebook has since confirmed that these changes are recent and that they are working on the algorithm to make it more relevant, but what say you? Creepy or useful?
