Sony recently launched a comic book based drama series that it produced exclusively for the PlayStation console. The first episode was released for free and subsequent episodes were later provided at a charge to PlayStation owners. According to a new report Sony has decided to renew this original series, called Powers, for a second season. The next season will air at some point in 2016.

The Powers series is based on the comic book of the same name from Brian Michael Bendis. It starts Sharlto Copley as a policeman who works in the Powers division of the police which is tasked with tackling crimes that involve people who have special powers. The cast also includes Susan Heyward, Eddie Izzard and Michelle Forbes.

Sony’s first original scripted drama for the PlayStation console had 10 episodes and it now ranks as the most-watches series premiere on the PlayStation Network. The first season can be purchased from the PlayStation Network while PlayStation Plus subscribers can get it for free.

The second season of Powers is going to expand the universe and bring more characters and storylines to life, according to the Hollywood Reporter, the main cast is expected to remain the same for the next season that arrives in 2016.
