iPhone6C_003It is expected that later this year, Apple will announce their next-gen iPhone in the form of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. However there have also been rumors suggesting that Apple could be working on a 4-inch iPhone that could be launched later this year as well, kind of like the iPhone 5c for this generation of iPhones.

It remains to be seen if the rumors are true, but in the meantime according to the latest rumors, word on the street has it that AUO will be supplying the display panels to Apple for their alleged 4-inch iPhone. Given that AUO has supplied display panels to Apple in the past, it would make sense that they would be tapped to supply displays this time round.

However whether or not they are actually supplying 4-inch displays remains to be seen. The rumors are also claiming that AUO will not be alone in supplying display panels to Apple. There will be other companies involved from Taiwan, China, and South Korea that are supposedly part of Apple’s supply chain.

The existence of the 4-inch iPhone is a bit contentious at this point in time. This is not the first time that AUO has been named as the supplier for the 4-inch display panels. However there are also conflicting rumors that suggests that the 4-inch iPhone might not launch this year, if it is even real at all. We are skeptical that such a device exists, after all why would Apple want to release a 4-inch iPhone when they’ve already increased its screen size?

In any case as is the case with all rumors, especially Apple-related ones, do take it with a grain of salt for now.
