The last time we saw a Doom game was Doom 3 back in 2004. This means that it essentially has been 11 years since a new Doom title was released. Well the good news for fans of the Doom franchise is that the game is back. Bethesda has officially announced it at their E3 2015 press conference along with a gameplay trailer which you can check out above.

The game has been a long time coming. For those who have been following the news about the Doom game, you might recall that a new version was announced back in 2008 but it got restarted in 2011 as it failed to meet internal expectations. This led to gamers wondering if it got cancelled, but this was dispelled with John Carmack stating that the game will be done when it’s done.

The new Doom game will run on the id Tech 6 engine and will be the first game to do so. Unsurprisingly it looks pretty good compared to what we’ve seen before. The game will obviously come with multiplayer mode and will also feature heavy support for mods, thus allowing gamers to create Doom-based mods easily.

Bethesda has also announced that the game will see a release in the Spring of 2016 although no specific dates have been mentioned. It will also be released on the Sony PlayStation 4, the Microsoft Xbox One, and the PC. So, who’s looking forward to getting their hands on it next year?
