As some of you guys might have heard, over in the UK Barclays has their own form of mobile and contactless payment called bPay. How it works is pretty similar to how most contactless payments work where you just need to wave your device over the payment terminal and it will charge you, just as easy as that.
Now previously the company launched variants of bPay in the form of a keychain, a wristband, or a sticker that can be attached to the back of your phone. However recently the company has taken things one step further by embedding bPay technology into an actual jacket that they developed with Scottish knitwear brand Lyle & Scott.
As you can see in the image above, bPay has been embedded into the cuffs of the jacket meaning that when you’re ready to pay, just wave your wrist over the terminal and you’re good to go. It’s an interesting idea although it will not as the jacket itself will cost £150. In terms of practicality, we suppose it will come in handy during the colder seasons, but less so during the summer.
As the folks at Engadget have pointed out, you can always opt to get your hands on the bPay sticker and paste it onto other jackets of your own if you’re not a fan of the design.
