blackberry-venice-androidAt the moment it is unclear as to when the BlackBerry Venice will be officially launched. The device has made multiple appearances and even in a hand-on video. That being said, additional details of the device has since made their way online. This comes courtesy of @evleaks who has revealed that the handset will be officially known as the BlackBerry Priv.

Now we know that Venice was always a codename for the handset. Previously we have seen the Canadian company use the name of cities as codenames for its devices, like the BlackBerry Lisbon and the BlackBerry London, so the name “Venice” was hardly a surprise. It is unclear as to what “Priv” might mean to BlackBerry, but that’s the name we got for now.

Of course it should be taken with a grain of salt but given @evleaks’ track record for reporting pretty accurate rumors, there is a good chance he might be right. For those who are hearing about this for the first time, the BlackBerry Priv “Venice” is an upcoming phone from BlackBerry. It is rumored to be an Android-powered handset.

From what we have seen in the photos and videos, it will also be a slider phone with a full touchscreen display and a keyboard hidden underneath it. It will definitely be an interesting direction for BlackBerry to take, but now the question is when will we actually get to see it?
