periscope-web-profiles

Apps that allow people to broadcast in real time are gaining popularity these days so much so that even Facebook has incorporated the feature, however it’s only offering the feature to select users right now. On the other hand apps like Periscope and Meerkat are steaming ahead, they’re gradually adding more and more functionality. Periscope announced today that it has launched web profiles for broadcasters.

Periscope web profiles aren’t all that different from Twitter web profiles, you just go to www.periscope.tv/username to see all of the recent broadcasts for any Periscoper. It’s similar to how you would go about seeing a Twitter user’s tweets on the web.

This also makes it much easier for people to follow new streams for their favorite Periscopers. For example if someone they keenly follow is broadcasting something and they’re aware of that, users don’t have to find the link to the broadcast, they can just go to that user’s web profile and start viewing the latest broadcast right there and then.

This can also be a way for Periscope to ensure that user growth does not stagnate, it has already reached 10 million users and in order to retain them and get more users it did need to provide more engagement for desktop users, and that’s what it’s doing with web profiles.
