If there was ever a good reason to go green, it would be now especially when you hear about how more cities around the world are experiencing increased amounts of smog due to the pollution emitted from regular vehicles. In fact it seems that just recently, the city of Milan, Italy has decided to temporarily ban cars on the road to help combat its own smog problem, with photos of the nearly-empty streets showing just how quiet the city has gotten.
For the first three days of this week, the city has ordered that private cars stay off the city’s streets between the time of 10AM and 4PM. To make up for the inconvenience, huge discounts have been applied to its public transport system where commuters can get unlimited transit for the cost of a single ride.
Milan is definitely not the first city to temporarily ban vehicles. In Oslo, Norway, similar plans have been introduced. India has also attempted similar practices and it wasn’t too long ago that China instituted a similar temporary ban on cars in a bid to help reduce the amount of pollution that they are emitting.
China has been attempting to deal with its problem by introducing artificial rain, and it also seems like a firm in Canada is selling Chinese customers bottled fresh air as the pollution has become too much to deal with. One performance artist in China has also successfully vacuumed up enough smog where he could actually make a brick out of it.
