iphone_apple_pay_patent_usptoRight now Apple has Apple Pay. Through Apple Pay, users are able to pay for purchases made in real-life, as well as make purchases online. However if there is one feature that Apple Pay does not have is that it can’t send money directly to other users. If that’s what you want to do, you’ll have to rely on other platforms such as PayPal.

However could Apple be considering such a feature in the future? According to a report from Quartz, it seems that they have stumbled across a patent which suggests that Apple could allow the sending of money using iMessage. As you can see in the diagram above, it shows the iMessage window with a conversation and the option to “Make Payment”.

From here presumably users will be able to click the button, select an amount, and have the money sent from their account to the other person’s bank account, or some kind of mobile wallet. While it was not explicitly stated, we can only imagine that this will probably have some kind of tie-in with Touch ID for additional security.

When asked to comment, unsurprisingly the Cupertino company declined to. While companies like Apple probably have a ton of payment, such a move would not be surprising especially with Apple having dived into the mobile payments scene. Either way try not to get your hopes up just yet, but what do you guys think of such a feature? Yay or nay?
