Earlier this month during CES, Samsung announced updated versions of its Gear S2 smartwatch, which they’re calling the Gear S2 Classic “New Edition”. The New Edition watch will also come in more fanciful finishes, like Rose Gold and Platinum, although based on the prices that were recently spotted on Amazon, they are considerably cheaper than the Apple Watch Edition.
Samsung recently announced that the Gear S2 Classic New Edition will be launching first in China followed by other markets around the world, but prices for the US were not mentioned. However like we said, the prices of both devices were spotted on Amazon which suggests that the watches will be coming stateside and they both appear to be priced at $449.99 each, and other than the design, both devices are essentially the same under the hood.
However its listing on Amazon states that the device will only begin shipping in 1-2 months, indicating that a launch for the US is still quite far off, but we suppose at least it has been confirmed for a US launch. Samsung has yet to confirm a US release so it is possible that the shipping timeframe on Amazon could be a placeholder, but either way we will be keeping our eyes peeled for more information regarding its US availability.
