Vimeo-Chromecast-VideoYouTube might be the main video streaming platform at the moment, but there are still plenty of alternatives, such as Vimeo. Now the good news for Android users is that if you’ve been waiting for the ability to stream Vimeo videos via the Chromecast, you will be pleased to learn that you will now be able to.

This is despite the fact that it was last year that Vimeo added that support for its iOS app, and not Android, which admittedly is a tad ironic given that Google owns both Android and Chromecast. In any case we guess better late than never, right? So if you have been waiting for this moment, fire up the app and you should be good to go.

As pointed out by VentureBeat, Vimeo currently has 30 million registered members and are claiming that they get 200 million people visiting its website every month. Like we said, YouTube might be the biggest platform right now, but Vimeo plays host to content that one might not necessarily find on YouTube.

For starters, Vimeo is a lot more relaxed when it comes to risque videos. This allows musicians and artists to upload videos that would have been flagged for takedown on YouTube, so both platforms while competitors, do appeal to different types of users.
