youtube_recommended_notificationsLast month it was revealed that one of the new features YouTube added to its Android app was the ability to add videos from its notifications to the “Watch Later” list. However according to a report from Android Police, it looks like YouTube’s notifications are starting to take things a little too far.

As you can see in the screenshot above, it seems that YouTube will now notify users about recommended videos. YouTube’s app displays videos it thinks you might enjoy, and sometimes it is spot on, and sometimes it can be way off base, but either way this is something that we imagine people would rather see when they are browsing the app, as opposed to being spammed by notifications like this.

The good news is that because this is a new feature, you will see a popup telling you about that new feature when you launch the app, in which you can then disable it straightaway. It is understandable that these notifications can be annoying, simply because you don’t want to have to be constantly alerted to videos you may or may not like, especially when you are at work or in a meeting or at a lunch with a friend, and so on.

If for whatever reason you accidentally forgot to turn off the feature, fret not. Google has a support page that will tell you how to turn off notifications, so head on over if you’d like to disable the feature.
