google-chrome

If you never really felt the need for this feature or never really gave it any thought, you might be surprised to find out that up till now it has been impossible to pause and resume downloads on Chrome for Android. This functionality is already available for Chrome on other platforms and it’s about time that it arrived on the Android app, and now it has, albeit in the latest developer release.

The built-in download manager in Android OS is not concerned with downloads that are made using the Chrome web browser so users can’t pause or resume them. For the first time, the ability to do this has been added to Chrome, the feature is included in the latest developer release of this browser.

Those who are interested in getting their hands on their feature right now will first have to install the Chrome Dev build on their handset. Since the Dev build is a work in progress it usually comes with a few bugs. There’s also the fact that the device needs to be running Marshmallow for the feature to work, the update hasn’t been widely released for supported devices yet.

Considering the fact that this feature has shown up in the developer release, it’s only a matter of time before a stable version is released that brings this much-needed feature to all users.
