apple_logoWhen it comes to individual smartphone brands rather than just platforms, it’s safe to say that Apple is one of the top players in the market. The company has managed to sell millions upon millions of iPhones with every generation that it has launched, and come this summer it is expected that Apple could very well sell their billionth iPhone.

This is according to a report from CNN Money who claims that Apple’s next quarterly earnings should reveal that the company has sold 50 million iPhones during the first 3 months of 2016. With these 50 million iPhones, it would have made the total number of iPhones sold to around the 946 million mark.

Based on that, they expect that it is possible that come summer the company will be able to sell its billionth iPhone, assuming that they are able to beat the forecasts which has them set for 44 million iPhones sold in the next quarter. Even if they were to miss the mark, hitting the billionth iPhone in 2016 is still quite an accomplishment all the same.

iPhones sales are reportedly starting to slow down. Analysts believe that 2016 is when iPhone sales will start to fall. In fact in 2015, sales of the iPhone in Japan had dipped compared to previous years. This shouldn’t really be a surprise given that the market has somewhat matured, but that being said, how do you think Apple should celebrate their billionth iPhone sold?
