sonyemojiIt seems that just about anything and everything can be turned into a movie these days. Now some of you guys might recall that last year, there were reports that Sony had picked up the rights to a script for a movie that will be based around emojis, and now a report from The Wrap has revealed additional details about it.

We know, some of you are probably scratching your heads and wondering what on earth could a movie about emojis be about? We suppose given that movies like Inside Out deal with emotions, emojis could be more or less the same. According to Sony Pictures Animation’s President Kristine Belson, “Inside your phone, there’s a secret world– and we enter through the text app where we discover Emoji Valley, where the industrious Emoji live and work.”

Interestingly enough Sony is also expected to reach out to various brands and apps to use them in the movie, at least that’s according to a studio insider. For example one scene could contain the characters navigating down a stream to represent music streaming, and Spotify is said to be one of the apps to be featured in the movie.

Facebook was also reportedly shown in the concept art for the movie, but nothing has been confirmed yet. We have to admit we are bit skeptical about the film given that it seems to be a rather transparent effort on Sony’s part to capitalize on a trend, but for all we know it could end up being pretty good!
