texting-driving-1Despite the money and effort spent in creating awareness about the dangers of texting while driving, people still insist on doing it anyway because they all think that it will never happen to them, at least until it does. So what happens when you receive a text while you’re driving? The right thing to do would be to ignore it until you’ve arrived at your destination.

But what if it is so important you can’t wait? Turns out that over in Canada, they are discussing the idea of creating a safe texting zones along highways. Dubbed the Safe Texting Zones Act, this would see the creation of safe and designated zones along highways that drivers can pull over and stop their car to send their messages.

According to Nipissing MPP Vic Fedele, “Texting while driving poses a major risk for drivers and those they share the road with. The Safe Texting Zones Act sends a clear message that there is no longer an excuse for drivers who endanger themselves and those they share the road with by texting and driving.”

Will this prove to be effective? Or will drivers still be too lazy to pull over and text? We guess we’ll have to wait and see how effective it will be, but at least on paper it does sound like a good idea, but what say you?
